Workshop_development_HRH

This workshop brings together PAHO’s human resources for health and health systems staff for a series of presentations and exercises, facilitated by workforce analysts from the Department of Health in England, to learn innovative models for health and care workforce planning. The facilitators will describe the current planning situation from a European perspective and will run workshops to demonstrate systems thinking techniques – including horizon scanning, scenario generation, workforce modelling and policy analysis – and to engage participants to share their knowledge and experiences.
Objetives
To update PAHO staff on the workforce planning context in England and Europe, with reference to the Joint Action on Health Workforce Planning and Forecasting and other use cases.
To demonstrate the techniques in use through accessible exercises.
To share knowledge about current and future challenges in human resources for health.
To stimulate debate on the application of systems thinking techniques in different contexts.
Expected outcomes
Information is shared between participants on the challenges in their specific contexts.
The presentations and exercises provide an introduction to the methods and techniques in use to process complexity and uncertainty commonly encountered with the planning of human resources for health.
Recommendations for application and/or integration of models for health and care workforce planning, as appropriate, based upon specific country context
